caught me a bass today

caught me a nice bass today. it was sweet. hooked him on a purple worm popped over some grass. hit like a lunker but wasnt so big. busted nice spray when he hit and made some decent flips for i pulled him up. must a been bout a 8 pound fish with the prettiest green you ever saw. he wsa pretty fat and looked helthy. seems like their feeding good this spring. must be a nice crop of crappie down in there for the bass to fatten up on.

seen some cats last year but aint caught one yet. been mostly hunting them bass in the pond behind the house here.

i spnet the day fishing in my lake. ot was a beautiful day for sure. i just sat on the banks of the lake for most of the day casting my line around and popping lures. I had a small camp set but really cruised the edge casting for basss. Some nice largemouth strikes but no real catches. Fish were not hopping today like most days. kinda overcast here in ocklawaha and the day was dreary. nice and cool for a fat man like me and made the day better.

Gonna set my bag a buck up this weekend and mabye check on the bear den nearbye. need to know if she is still in the area or moved on since the rains hit. some bear was up the road this week and left droppings on the corner again.

i think maybe i'll start fishing here once or twice a week and when i come i'll drop some feed for the bucks. maybe i can get one coming through rgular this year and pick me a big buck come season. i know i seen some hog ruts on the north beach of my lake last week. looks like some big ones with wide spread on the hoof. might be some big ones in the palmettos out back. i'll have to look around later and see.

I have been hunting since before I can remember. I hunted rabbut in my early years and had so many good times with my daddy. We hunted squirrel and fox and just about any thing really. My daddy liked to hunt a lot. he would make sure he took us out every chance he got. We would run dogs in Florida and set stand in Georgia during season and always bagged a nice deer each season. My daddy always hunted with his shotgun and only thing he changed was his shot. Daddy liked to use OO buck shot when he was hunting deer.

His old shitgun was worn smooth and shiny but daddy was a killer with that thing. he slayed a lot of deer with that gun. Shame momma sold it while I was in the Marines. i wish I had it now.
